The government already knows a lot about each of us....we give them our personal details every time we use our Medicare card or apply for social security benefits. But should all that information be stored on one smart card? Supporters of the smart card say it will reduce welfare and identity fraud but critics believe it's only one step away from an all-embracing ID card, an idea proposed to fight terrorism but rejected as "Big Brother".
